Ask for the full medicine name.

Keep the exact name beside the claim. A short label, a product code and a registration badge answer different questions.

Ask for a written product description

The medicine’s full name and the ingredient that does its work, called the active ingredient.

Would it come as a tablet, a shot or something else? Would a pharmacist or doctor prepare or change it for you, which is called compounding?

The pharmacy’s name, who fills the prescription and how you would receive the medicine.

The reason that product is being discussed for your concern.

A code is not an approval record

Ask for the ingredient that does the medicine’s work, written out in full. This is called the active ingredient.

An NDC could not serve as proof of FDA approval in the September 26, 2026 position; NDC stands for National Drug Code.

An NDC is a product code in a drug directory. If a service points to a code, ask it to identify the actual approval record for the particular product instead.

Read “registered” as a separate word

Some businesses prepare batches of specially made medicines, often for clinics and hospitals. A business that does this with sterile medicines and registers with FDA is called an outsourcing facility. Sterile means free of living germs.

At September 26, 2026, registration gave neither approval nor a recommendation from FDA for that business or its medicines.

Ask whether the medicine comes from this kind of business or from a pharmacy filling your own prescription. Keep the supplier’s name with the product details you are checking.

Keep the name consistent

Compare the name in the offer with the name the clinician discusses. If those differ, ask why. Keep the written answer with the care and payment details.

This is a naming check, not a way to choose a medicine by yourself. Take the unresolved details into the health review.

Use the product-code page for the code question, and the compounding notes for the facility question. Neither replaces the medicine’s approval record.
